Welfare Support in Goa
The Directorate of Women and Child Development, Goa, implements the Griha Aadhar Scheme to support housewives from lower/middle-income groups with cost-of-living expenditures. The state also offers welfare pensions under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) and educational support through the Laadli Laxmi Scheme.
Statutory Scheme Highlights
- Griha Aadhar: Standard assistance of ₹1,500/month. Capped at family income under ₹3 Lakh/year. Homemaker must be Goan domicile of 15 years.
- DSSS Pension: Pays ₹2,500/month to elderly (60+), widows, or disabled individuals. Income ceiling is ₹2 Lakh. DSSS and Griha Aadhar are mutually exclusive unless she is a widow with minor children.
- Laadli Laxmi: Offers a one-time cash award of ₹1,00,000 for Goan girls of marriageable age (18-40) to prevent female foeticide and offset marriage expenses.
