Monthly Supplementary Nutrition Payout/Value across Categories
The 6 Core Services under ICDS
1. Supplementary Nutrition (SNP)
Providing energy and protein supplements for 300 days a year to bridge the gap between actual intake and RDA standards.
2. Immunization
Protecting children under 6 years against polio, DPT, measles, and tuberculosis, plus tetanus vaccines for mothers.
3. Health Check-ups
Periodic check-ups for children, prenatal health assessments for mothers, recording height/weight trends.
4. Referral Services
Redirecting sick or malnourished children/mothers to primary health centres or hospitals with referral slips.
5. Pre-School Non-Formal Education
Play-based learning for children aged 3-6 years at the Anganwadi centre to prepare them for primary schooling.
6. Nutrition and Health Education
Training girls and mothers to implement healthy infant feeding (IYCF) practices and hygiene standards.
Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) Norms
Governed under Mission Poshan 2.0 and the National Food Security Act, 2013, the supplementary feeding is delivered for 300 days a year. Cost sharing between central and state governments is set at 60:40 ratio (90:10 in Himalayan/North Eastern states).
Nutritional and Cost Guidelines
- Children (6 months to 6 years): 500 Kcal and 12-15 grams of protein daily. Standard cost norm: ₹8.00 per child per day.
- Pregnant & Lactating Mothers: 600 Kcal and 18-20 grams of protein daily. Standard cost norm: ₹9.50 per mother per day.
- Severely Underweight Children: 800 Kcal and 20-25 grams of protein daily. Standard cost norm: ₹12.00 per child per day.
