About Gujarat Secondary Scholarship Schemes
The Government of Gujarat offers two major secondary education scholarships starting from the 2024-25 academic session to increase enrollment and prevent dropouts in high schools: the Namo Laxmi Yojana and the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana.
Namo Laxmi Yojana
The Namo Laxmi scheme is targeted exclusively at girl students from Class 9 to Class 12. It provides a total financial incentive of ₹50,000 over 4 years. Girls receive ₹10,000/year in Class 9 and 10, and ₹15,000/year in Class 11 and 12. Payouts are made via DBT in monthly components during the school term, with the remaining balance paid upon passing the annual examinations.
Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana
The Namo Saraswati scheme is open to both male and female students in Class 11 and 12 who choose the Science Stream. It provides ₹25,000 over 2 years (₹10,000 for Class 11 and ₹15,000 for Class 12). To qualify, the student must secure at least 50% marks in Class 10 Board Exams and choose Science in a government or aided school.
Combined Dual-Benefit Mechanism
A major feature is that a girl student taking the Science stream in Gujarat government or government-aided schools qualifies for both schemes simultaneously. This means she can receive a cumulative ₹25,000 in Class 11 and ₹30,000 in Class 12, creating an accelerated path to professional scientific careers.
