Central NSP Scholarships (NEC & UGC)
- Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) from a Northeast state
- Annual Income Certificate (from revenue authority, under ₹8L or ₹4.5L)
- Class 12 / Degree Mark sheets of qualifying exams
- Joint or Single active Bank Account Passbook copy with IFSC code
- Aadhaar Card copy & verification proof
- Institution Verification Form / Bonafide Student Certificate
State-Specific Supplements
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) Caste Certificate issued by NE state
- Fee receipt copy from college (for Pragyan Bharati free tuition)
- Sikkim Public School Admission & merit card (for CM Merit)
- Research Synopsis verified by university guide (for PhD candidates)
North Eastern Region Scholarship Rules
The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), through the North Eastern Council, and the UGC provide dedicated financial packages to increase enrollment rates and support meritorious students across the 8 NE States.
Statutory Scholarship Highlights
- NEC Merit Scholarship: Under the Ministry of DoNER. Merit cap: 60%+ in the qualifying exam. Family income limit: less than or equal to ₹8,00,000. Awards annual stipends based on course level: Diploma (₹20k), UG (₹22k), PG (₹25k), and PhD (₹30k).
- UGC Ishan Uday Special Scholarship: Exclusively for students with Northeast domicile starting regular, full-time undergraduate degrees. Family income must not exceed ₹4,50,000 per year. Awards ₹54,000/year for general courses and ₹78,000/year for professional/technical/medical courses.
- Assam Pragyan Bharati: Unlocks complete admission fee waivers for UG and PG courses in state colleges if family income is less than or equal to ₹4,00,000 (value ~₹10,000/yr). Award of a Scooty is given to girls scoring greater than or equal to 80% in Higher Secondary exams.
- Sikkim CM Merit Scholarship: Facilitates free residential education in top public schools (value ~₹1,50,000/year) for Sikkim residents with income less than or equal to ₹1,50,000 and class marks greater than or equal to 75%.
