About Jharkhand Sarvajan Pension Scheme
The **Sarvajan Pension Yojana** is a landmark social security reform by the Government of Jharkhand. By removing the traditional BPL (Below Poverty Line) card requirements, Jharkhand became one of the first states to universalize pension coverage for all vulnerable sections, including widows, senior citizens, primitive tribes, and disabled residents.
Statutory Pension Amount
Beneficiaries across all eligible categories receive a flat monthly payout of ₹1,000 (totaling ₹12,000 per year) deposited directly to their bank accounts. There is no quota limit, and all applicants meeting the age/category requirements are enrolled.
Lowered Age Thresholds & Categories
- Women (All Castes): Under the latest guidelines, the Old Age pension threshold is reduced to 50 years (from 60 years) for all women residing in Jharkhand.
- SC/ST Men: The eligibility age is similarly lowered to 50 years.
- General and OBC Men: The Old Age pension eligibility remains at 60 years.
- Widow & Destitute Women: Eligible from the age of 18 years.
- Divyangjan (Disability): Disabled residents with at least 40% verified handicap are eligible starting from 5 years of age.
- Primitive Tribes (PVTG) & HIV Affected: Universal eligibility with no strict age limits.
