Common Questions & Insights

How much water do I need to drink every day?

A good baseline is around 35 ml per kilogram of body weight (about 0.5 ounces per pound). However, you need to add more water if you exercise or live in a hot, humid climate.

Does coffee or tea count toward my daily water goal?

Yes, all fluids count. While caffeine has a mild diuretic effect, beverages like coffee, tea, and juice still contribute to your overall hydration.

How do I know if I am drinking enough water?

The easiest way is to check your urine color. Clear or light yellow urine indicates good hydration. Dark yellow or amber urine means you need to drink more.

Is it possible to drink too much water?

Yes. Drinking massive amounts of water in a short time can dilute the sodium levels in your blood, a rare but serious condition called hyponatremia. Drink gradually throughout the day.

Should I drink more water during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Yes. Staying hydrated supports the amniotic fluid and increased blood volume during pregnancy. When breastfeeding, you need even more water because breast milk is about 90% water.
