Calculating age seems simple, but it depends on the fluctuating length of calendar months and the occurrence of leap years. Our engine resolves the precise elapsed time between two dates using standard Gregorian calendar boundaries.
How Month Lengths are Handled
Since months range from 28 to 31 days, when the birth date day (e.g. 31st) is greater than the total days in the month before the target date (e.g. February, which has 28 or 29 days), the calculation correctly snaps to the end of the shorter month and rolls over remaining days precisely.
Leap Years and the Leap Day
A leap year occurs every 4 years (unless the year is divisible by 100 but not 400). If you are born on Leap Day (February 29th), our engine correctly tracks whether a leap day has occurred in the target year to avoid offset drift.
